Dates
Baptisms for children under 8 years old are celebrated on the first and third Saturday of each month at 9 AM.
Pre-Baptismal Classes
The pre-baptismal class is mandatory for parents and godparents.
Classes are normally offered on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 9 AM to 12 PM.
Important:
- You must register in advance to attend.
- Children are not permitted in the class.
- If you have not yet registered, the required documentation must be submitted two days before the class.
If you took the class at another parish, you must present proof or a letter from the parish confirming your participation. This document must be submitted when scheduling the baptism.
Requirements
For Parents
- Attend the pre-baptismal class (mandatory).
- Present the child's original birth certificate.
For Godparents
- Attend the pre-baptismal class (mandatory).
- If you have already attended previously, present proof of attendance
Required Documents
Single godparents:
- Copy of Baptism certificate
- Copy of Confirmation certificate
Married godparents:
- Copy of Religious Marriage certificate
Permission Letters for Baptism
1) If You Belong to Another Parish
If you belong to another parish, you must present a Permission Letter from your parish confirming that you are a registered parishioner and that you have permission to baptize at St. John Paul II Mission. (Code of Canon Law: can. 857 §2)
It must be submitted when you schedule the baptism.
2) If St. John Paul II is Your Parish
If you are registered at St. John Paul II Catholic Mission and wish to baptize your child at another parish, you must request a Pastoral Permission Letter from our office.
To request this letter, your family must be registered and actively participating in the parish life of St. John Paul II.

Requirements for Permission Letter
If St. John Paul II is the parish where you are registered and you wish to baptize your child at another parish, you must request a Pastoral Permission Letter from our office.
To request this letter, your family must be a registered and active member at St. John Paul II.
***An active member, according to the Archdiocese of Atlanta, is a person who:
- Is registered in the parish
- Attends Mass regularly
- Supports the parish with their time, talent, and treasure (offertory envelopes or online donations)
- Receives parish communications
To request the letter, please provide the following information:
- Names of parents and child
- Phone number and email
- Baptism date or tentative date
- Information about the parish where the baptism will take place:
- Name
- Address
- Phone
- Fax
- Contact name and email
If the parish requires proof of attendance at the pre-baptismal class and you took it at St. John Paul II, ask that they include the class date in the letter. If you do not remember the date, we can help you find it.
