Anointing of the Sick
What is the Anointing of the Sick?
"Is anyone among you sick?* He should summon the presbyters of the church…"
— James 5:14
The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing and comfort in which Christ strengthens those who are experiencing serious illness or the frailty of old age. It is not only for the end of life, but an encounter with Him that brings peace, hope, and spiritual strength.
Through this sacrament, the Holy Spirit grants grace to face illness with faith, overcome discouragement, and renew trust in God, strengthening the soul. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1520)
When is it offered?
Every first Friday of the month during the 6 PM Mass.
Who can receive it?
